Tao LaBossiere (1968–2024): Solo Exhibition & Book Launch

  • Hartford ArtSpace Gallery 555 ASYLUM AVE HARTFORD United States (map)

Although Tao LaBossiere volunteered for decades to support Hartford ArtSpace Gallery, he never had a solo show of his own. The gallery typically hosts group exhibitions to uplift many artists at once, but this long-overdue solo exhibition is a heartfelt exception.

Curated by Amy LaBossière—Tao’s wife, business partner, and volunteer director of Hartford ArtSpace Gallery—this memorial exhibition brings to life a show originally planned for 2023, then postponed to 2024. Tao passed before it could come to fruition.

The exhibit will feature a wide range of Tao’s creative work—including illustration, sculpture, paintings, and more—and will mark the official release of the first volume in his punny illustration series.

In 2023, Tao received an Artist Fellowship Award. He used the funds to purchase frames for originals and prints for this exhibit, as well as future print and original orders.

This project was made possible with support from the Connecticut Office of the Arts, which also receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), a federal agency.

This event is sponsored by Art of Tao LaBossiere LLC. A portion of all sales will be donated to the Tao LaBossiere Artist Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
